Puppies at 2 week of age

Puppies now both weight 16 oz. or one pound -- right on target for development to the correct standard size of 4 - 6 lbs.  Both girls have just opened their eyes although they technically are still blind.  They have started creeping and crawling around more, but still use their front paws to drag themselves around. They are much more active as each week goes on. Their noses and lips have speckles of black pigment coming in.  Their coat has grown significantly and these two girls are white-white.  That is, by this age you can see faint tan markings if the puppies will have color in their coats and ears -- these two girl have no signs of having any coat color.  Their toenails have grown also; this is a good age to start them on nail cutting with a small nail clipper.  Their ears are starting to flap down and soon they will open their ears and hear.
