Puppies at 8 week of age

Puppies now  weight 32 oz. and 36 oz.   They are completely weaned and eating moistened puppy food as well as crunching on dry food.  Yes, their puppy teeth are in and are very sharp.  And they love to chew on everything from toes (human) to their numerous toys.  They still spend time taking much needed naps but have extended their play hours -- exploring everything in the house.  Mother ("Sassy") is around, as well as "auntie" Patty, to give some supervision to their activities.  Maltese seem to learn well when they have adult role models to supervise and teach them good habits. They had their first bath today -- and the start of learning regular grooming.  In addition to bath they had their nails trimmed, pads clipped and the some brushing.  It is important to start early with these activities -- making it a "playful game" so they will learn to welcome and enjoy grooming which becomes such a big part of a Maltese' life.
